Academic Success Center Programs & Services

Academic Success Coaching

Academic Success Coaches serve as the primary facilitator of academic coaching for students on academic intervention, or for students choosing to opt into services for additional accountability and support. Students collaborate with their Academic Success Coach to develop strategic goals for the semester, connect to additional campus resources, and receive support for overall academic success.

To learn more information about Success Coaching, including how to opt-in to the service, please visit our webpage.

Consultations and Workshops

Academic Skill Consultations

Academic skill consultations are a great way for students to meet with an Educational Specialist one-on-one to discuss an academic skill they want to further develop or refine. These can include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Time Management
  • Note-Taking
  • Goal-setting
  • Overcoming Challenges & Setbacks
  • Effectively Utilizing Study Groups
  • Improving Reading Strategies
  • Communicating with Professors
  • Succeeding with Tests

Academic Skill Workshops

The Academic Success Center also offers virtual and in-person workshop opportunities so students can continue enhancing their academic skill set. These workshops highlight solutions to common challenges such as test-taking skills, note-taking methods, strategies for reading comprehension, developing goals and a mindset for success, and time management.

To learn more information about consultations and workshops, please visit our webpage.

Learning Support Program

The Learning Support Program provides students with additional support to develop skills in reading, composition, and/or mathematics. Students are enrolled in the Learning Support Program based on placement test results according to Board of Regents and Georgia Southern University policies.

To learn more information about the Learning Support Program, please visit our webpage.

Peer Mentoring

The Academic Success Center’s Peer Mentoring Program will conclude at the end of Spring 2024. This decision will allow our team to expand and launch new services to support our students’ greatest area of need.

We appreciate your understanding during this transition. Through the Spring 2024 semester, we will assist current participants in their transition to other support services. Information on alternative support initiatives will be provided.

We’re excited about our upcoming initiatives to enhance student support. Details will be shared soon.

Peer Tutoring

Academic Success Center has free tutoring available for Georgia Southern students virtually and in person.
