Academic Success Coaching
Academic Success Coaching is available for students who want ongoing support in the pursuit of BIG GOALS! Whether it’s committing to the ongoing improvement of academic skills, aspiring to attend graduate school, or seeking to achieve one’s maximum potential – Academic Success Coaches are here to help students create, stay accountable to, and achieve their goals.

Consultations and Workshops
Academic Skill Consultations
Academic skill consultations are a great way for students to meet with an Educational Specialist one-on-one to discuss an academic skill they want to further develop or refine. These can include, but are not limited to the following:
- Time Management
- Note-Taking
- Goal-setting
- Overcoming Challenges & Setbacks
- Effectively Utilizing Study Groups
- Improving Reading Strategies
- Communicating with Professors
- Succeeding with Tests
Academic Skill Workshops
The Academic Success Center also offers virtual and in-person workshop opportunities so students can continue enhancing their academic skill set. These workshops highlight solutions to common challenges such as test-taking skills, note-taking methods, strategies for reading comprehension, developing goals and a mindset for success, and time management.

Learning Support Program
The Learning Support Program provides students with additional support to develop skills in reading, composition, and/or mathematics. Students are enrolled in the Learning Support Program based on placement test results according to Board of Regents and Georgia Southern University policies.

Peer Mentoring
The Peer Mentor Program supports the academic and social growth of first and second-year students. Peer Mentors are academically successful upperclassmen pursuing various majors, and our team is passionate about walking alongside students as they transition to life at Georgia Southern.
Peer Mentors and Mentees meet weekly to discuss a variety of topics, including locating resources on campus, getting a handle on time management, sharing personal experiences and overcoming challenges, establishing positive habits, goal setting, getting plugged into campus life, and more! Our Peer Mentors help students navigate the academic environment and celebrate successes – big or small.

Tutoring Services
The Academic Success Center offers free peer tutoring services in core Math, Science, and Humanities courses for Georgia Southern students, both virtually and in person. To learn more information about peer tutoring, including hours of availability, please visit our webpage.
For upper-level and niche subject areas, we can refer students to free tutoring services offered by academic departments or Tutor.com.
Testing Services
Testing Services offers centralized, efficient, and professional evaluation, preparation, and testing services to the Georgia Southern University campus community.
