Strategic Initiatives
The Provost Office supports all areas of academic advancement, with a focus on several key areas.
The Faculty Center:
In alignment with Georgia Southern University’s mission to pursue academic excellence in teaching and foster student success, the Faculty Center provides a broad range of professional development programs and services. The Faculty Center supports faculty with research-based pedagogical, technological and other resources for designing, implementing, assessing, and researching effective and innovative instructional strategies.

Ready Day 1:
The Office of Career and Professional Development provides Georgia Southern University students and alumni with a broad range of personalized services to prepare them for professional success through programs such as Ready Day 1. The Ready Day 1 Career Plan prepares students to be career ready from the first day on the job and for lifelong career management. This plan was developed based on the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) eight career readiness competencies that employers are looking for.
Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center:
The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center celebrates and preserves Gullah Geechee culture along the South Georgia region of the Gullah Geechee Corridor. The Gullah Geechee peoples of Coastal Georgia are descendants of enslaved Africans from plantations along the lower Atlantic coast. The Center honors myriad contributions made by Gullah Geechee people, provides educational resources for all, promotes scholarship and research, and serves as a model for national reconciliation and reparations.

Adult and Online Learners:
Whether you’re going to school for the first time or coming back to finish a degree you started years ago, Georgia Southern offers a path to a degree that will suit your busy lifestyle and professional needs. Through the Office of Adult and Online Learning, explore the accelerated and online degree programs, degree completion programs, and credit for prior learning options. You can also improve your skills in your current job through our continuing and professional education programs. With six start times per year, programs are flexible and offered in-person, during the day or evening, in short sessions, or online. You can also research our affordable tuition and multiple financial aid opportunities, such as scholarships, military benefits and grants.
Global Engagement: Wexford, Ireland
Historical, attractive, lively and safe, Wexford Town and the surrounding Wexford County are about two hours by road or rail from Dublin. Due in part to almost two centuries of trade and emigration links between Wexford and the city of Savannah, Georgia Southern selected the location as its European study abroad and research campus. The Wexford campus offers many exciting opportunities for study and research. Experience the history, scenery and people of Ireland as you learn about the connections to Georgia’s own story, our region, and our role in the global community.
