Spring 2021 Schedule Changes and Improvements

Georgia Southern University offers a world of opportunities for you to pursue your curiosities and launch a successful career, guided by the world-class teacher-scholars of our faculty. That’s why we are excited to get back to a more pre-COVID educational environment in the Spring 2021 term. Building on what we learned during the Fall term, we have made some improvements to course scheduling and how classes will be described, as we continue to social distance and create a safe learning environment.

New Scheduling Options

While a return to complete pre-COVID traditional face-to-face teaching remains our ultimate goal for the future, we will be increasing the number of true face-to-face courses in the Spring. Rather than competing for spaces between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., you will now have access to courses from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Lengthening our teaching day means that you will be able to take more courses without subsections or Groups.

Online or Face-to-Face?

Georgia Southern will continue to offer a wide range of course delivery modes, including Zoom, subsections or Groups, a hybrid model, or a more traditional face-to-face class with social distancing. As you explore courses in the Course Search, you will now be able to see a fuller description of how the course will be taught. When you click on the course’s Subject or Title link, you will see a description of how the class is taught in the Additional Information block if it’s different from a traditional face-to-face course.

A lot of this language is new, so if you have any questions about how a class will function on a day-to-day basis, please reach out directly to the instructor listed.
