SoTL Journey

Georgia Southern outlines four-stages of growth and development for faculty who desire to become SoTL Scholars.

(1) Georgia Southern SoTL Faculty Learning Community

The SoTL Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is intended for instructors new to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Using the book Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (Bishop-Clark and Dietz-Uhler, 2012) as a basis for discussion guidance through the steps of developing a SoTL project, the goal of the FLC is to provide faculty with approaches to and theories of SoTL in order develop the skills to further engage in SoTL. (2) Georgia Southern SoTL Mentorship Program

The competitive Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Mentorship Program is designed to foster faculty engagement and leadership in SoTL at Georgia Southern University. The mentorship supports quality, innovative SoTL research projects that aim to improve the understanding of teaching and learning. Learn more about SoTL Mentorship Program.

(3) Georgia Southern Emerging SoTL Scholar Designation

The Georgia Southern University Emerging SoTL Scholar designation recognizes Georgia Southern faculty members for a body of work of outstanding contributions to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). (4) Georgia Southern Nominee for the USG Regents’ SoTL Award

Faculty with a significant body of SoTL work are encouraged to apply to be the Georgia Southern Nominee for the USG Regents’ SoTL Award. The award is intended to encourage and support the work of faculty members whose scholarship focuses on the instructional mission of the institution.
