Zuzu African Acrobats

Hailing from Tanzania, Zuzu African Acrobats celebrate the 2,000-year-old Bantu culture of East Africa with their thrilling, gravity defying stunts. This performance features acts such as human pyramids, dish spinning, balance, contortion, unicycling, juggling, pole acts, hoop diving, and more, along with a healthy dose of comedy, performed to the exciting sounds of African beats! Presented in conjunction with our Mainstage Series, this hour-long performance will preview what will be a great family-friendly show that evening so the whole family can join!

Danny Carmo’s Mathematical Mysteries

Prepare to be amazed, dazzled and bewildered by Danny Carmo’s Mathematical Mysteries – a spectacular show where math, theater and digital technology collide to create an interactive performance proving that understanding math can be fun! Meet Danny Carmo –  it’s not so long ago that he thought school and, in particular, math wasn’t for him. He was more interested in dreaming about a future on the stage – all he ever wanted to be was a famous magician. But when he knuckled down to learn all the tricks of the trade, he realized that math was not only essential… it was the SECRET to a whole load of magic.


It’s Okay to be Different

With his signature blend of playfulness and sensitivity, Todd Parr explores important and timely subjects through three short narratives in one performance. It’s Okay to Be Different cleverly delivers the important messages of acceptance, understanding, and self-confidence. Equally whimsical and heartfelt, The Earth Book, is a sweet homage to our beautiful planet inspiring readers of all ages to do their part to keep the Earth happy and healthy. This is My Hair is a funny exploration of how silly hair can be and that no matter how your hair looks, always feel good about yourself. Directed and adapted by Jim Morrow, veteran director of numerous internationally acclaimed productions, this show will feature a diverse cast, an innovative approach to puppetry, combined with playful original music.


The Ugly Duckling

We all know the fable of the swan who grows up “ugly” in a family of ducks, later to find his appearance changing as he discovers his true identity. Follow along as our “duck” finds friendship with other unlikely misfits: a mole that hates dirt and the bald eagle with a full head of hair. These three “misfit” heroes work together to earn their home on the King’s estate and find the self-confidence that only friendship and accomplishment can provide. Please join us for this all-singing, all-dancing, all- delightful new musical.

School Matinee Series shows are by reservation only, as there are no day of sales. Tickets are $5 per person, and reservations can be made by calling our box office manager, Erin, at (912) 478-7916 or emailing ebarbeck@georgiasouthern.edu.
