Meet the Project BESST Faculty

Dr. Lisa Costello is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing and Linguistics at Georgia Southern University. Her specialty is memory and memorialization of the Holocaust. She was recently selected as one of 20 international teaching fellows to participate in The Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies’ 2012 Curt C. and Else Silberman Seminar at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C

Dr. Lorraine Gilpin is an assistant professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Georgia Southern University. She currently teaches the undergraduate P-5 social studies methods course. She also supervises pre-service teachers as they plan, implement, and evaluate lessons integrating language arts, creative arts, and social studies. Dr. Gilpin is a certified elementary teacher and a member of the Demonstration Teacher Partner School Council. She has taught at the elementary, middle grades, and high school levels in the U.S. and Jamaica. Her other areas of expertise include developmentally appropriate practices, language arts, multicultural education, classroom management, and assessment.
