Honors Orientation Information for Freshmen
Welcome to the University Honors Program’s information page for incoming first-year students! Incoming Honors Program students have been sent a link for a mandatory live Zoom Honors Orientation with Honors staff, and on this page you will find links to help you prepare for that meeting (and to visit again as you prepare for the fall).
Please note that this information is specific to the Honors Program and you will still need to complete your Virtual SOAR session.
Your Next Steps:
Please make time to watch the brief video outlining the key requirements and expectations of the Honors Program.
The Honors Program website includes a wealth of information about the opportunities that will be available to you as an honors student. In particular, you should review:
- Overview of the requirements of the program
- Details about the Experiential Learning requirement
- Honors Advising Information
- This past semester’s Virtual Honors Symposium to see some examples of honors thesis presentations
Details about move-in for the Honors Living Learning Community (LLC) and other residence halls will be sent to students directly from Housing.
Students living in the Honors LLC on either the Armstrong or Statesboro campuses will receive information specific to those communities’ move-in dates. All other Honors Program students living in other buildings will receive information about their move-in times.
Honors Q & A on Zoom
The Honors Program will schedule Question and Answer sessions on Zoom throughout June and July. Details will be discussed during the Honors Zoom Orientation Sessions.
One of the wonderful aspects of being an honors student is that you get to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Honors Program and all of the opportunities of the broader university. Virtual SOAR has been constructed to insure you have all the information you need as an incoming student.
