Art In Argentina


Join Professor Rachel Green on a 3-week journey through the northwest area of Argentina to explore the rich cultural and craft traditions while also having access to high quality art museums and a vibrant contemporary art scene! Primarily based in Salta, students will have the opportunity to explore an area that combines a proud Spanish colonial heritage with strong indigenous communities existing in a diverse natural environment, dominated by the Andes.

Course Options:
Students have the opportunity to earn and must be enrolled in 6 credit hours with their home institution.  Students can choose from the following:

ARTS 2400- Introduction to Fibers (3)
ARTS 3860 – Environmental Art (3)
ARTS 4900- Selected Studies in Art (3)
SABR 2960- Argentinean Art and Culture (3)

Students should possess at least a 2.5 institutional GPA at the time of application, with no active disciplinary record.  All students must be fully admitted to the institution, and at least 18 years of age by the program departure date.

Dates of Program:
May 19 – June 4, 2020 (Summer Term A)

Program Cost:
Includes: Roundtrip airfare to Argentina; all regional and local transportation; lodging for the duration of the program; some meals;  classroom access; tour and excursion fees; and a medical travel insurance plan.

Additional Costs: Georgia Southern tuition & fees for 6 credit hours of course enrollment; books and supplies; additional meals beyond those included; incidental and personal expenses.

Nature and Purpose of the Program:
This program will provide participating students the ability to explore several indigenous communities to take workshops from master artisans in textile, painting, and ceramics. Students will also visit world class museums and explore vibrant, contemporary galleries in Buenos Aires.

Refund information:
Once accepted to the program, all deposits and program payments are non-refundable.
