Selecting a major can seem overwhelming, but the advisement staff in First-Year Experience is here to make that experience rewarding! As an undeclared or exploratory student, your job is to actively research major and degree options, with the goal of declaring in your first year. While meeting with your advisor, be prepared to answer questions about your interests, career and professional goals, preferred types of classes and any issues that might affect your academic progress at Georgia Southern. When you share this information, your advisor can either help you personally or direct you to further resources available for major exploration including the Office of Career and Professional Development, college advisement centers, faculty and other resources. Don’t put off exploring major options. Let the FYE office help you make the transition to declared status during your first year!
