Peer Educators

Peers are often the most effective educators, and accordingly, First-Year Experience (FYE) uses undergraduate peer educators extensively to reach out to first-year students. Click below for a brief description of each role, as well as a link to a more extensive position description.

Peer Leaders

Peer leaders help first-year students acclimate to college life through social and academic mentoring in FYE courses. Additionally, peer leaders serve as a resource to the FYE professor and learn valuable leadership skills. This is a volunteer position for which students can receive service credit. To learn more about this volunteer position, click here.

Peer Leader Supervisors

This newly created position will begin Spring 2018. Peer leader supervisors are responsible for mentoring, training, and supervising peer leaders. Peer leader supervisors support peer leaders  by sharing their experiences and being available to peer leaders as they learn their role in FYE 1220. This paid position requires previous experience as an FYE 1220 peer leader or FYS 1000 peer mentor. To learn more about this position, click here.

Peer Academic Advisors

Peer Academic Advisors (PAA) assist in guiding undeclared students through the major-exploration process and advisement check-in. They provide a peer approach to the advisement setting. In addition, PAAs help with SOAR, recruitment events, and daily office tasks.  This is paid position (hourly).

Applications open March-April for summer and the following academic year.
