Perusall at Georgia Southern
Perusall, a social annotation platform integrated with Folio, offers a discussion board’s benefits and many added advantages. Perusall allows you to upload interactive text students can read through the platform. The reading becomes a collaborative document in which students can annotate, ask each other questions, and up-vote other ideas. Instructors can add prompts, answer queries, and add quiz questions. Students can highlight the text as they read, but they must leave a comment for their highlight to stick. Other students can see and respond to their comments, creating a discussion thread alongside the text.
Perusall also has algorithms that can provide scores based on student annotations, interactions, participation, and active reading time.
Perusall integrates with Folio using LTI 1.3. Once you have set it up as an LTI app inside your LMS, students can launch It through their LMS without having to log into It separately.
