Arriving at Georgia Southern University
Transportation – Statesboro is located in southern Georgia about 52 miles (82km) west of Savannah. The closest airport to Statesboro is the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Please note: no buses or passenger trains come to Statesboro. A taxi or Uber from Savannah to Statesboro will cost approximately $100 and can be arranged at the airport across from the baggage claim area.
FREE shuttle service – The English Language Program provides limited FREE shuttle service from the Savannah Airport to campus. Someone will meet you in front of the Visitor Information Center, which is located at the bottom of the escalator that leads to the baggage claim area.
While the service is free, you must make reservations by sending an email to elp@georgiasouthern.edu with your name and flight itinerary.
On-campus Housing – If you arrive earlier than your on-campus housing begins, you will need to stay in a local hotel or make other arrangements. Tip: make a reservation before you leave your country!
Housing (On and Off Campus)
If you do not have a place to live before arriving to Statesboro, plan on staying at a hotel and make a reservation before you leave your country.
Savannah Airport Hotels – If you arrive late or early, you may prefer to or need to stay over in Savannah. There are many hotels to choose from that are close to the airport that offer free shuttle service from the airport.
