Inclusive Excellence Fellows Program

As aligned with the University’s Inclusive Excellence Action Plan (IEAP), the Office of Inclusive Excellence employs faculty and staff fellows to co-lead scholarship, instruction, and service that contribute to inclusive excellence efforts at Georgia Southern University.

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence & Chief Diversity Officer, the Inclusive Excellence Fellows program promotes faculty and staff engagement with the IEAP, which is central to the Inclusive Excellence pillar in Georgia Southern University’s Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities & Structure

The Office of Inclusive Excellence is currently seeking applicants for two (2) Summer fellowship positions. The selected IE Fellows will assess institutional resources for diverse student populations, with a particular focus on first-generation college students, adult learners, and parenting students.

Each fellow is responsible for working with the Office of Inclusive Excellence to provide research engagement and enterprise-wide assessment.

  • The program is from June 1st – July 31st
  • Fellows will work with a member of the OIE Leadership Team or designee
  • Fellows will focus on a target student population to research, assess and provide recommendations for resource development

Eligibility

Faculty

All full-time faculty (tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure track) are eligible to apply.  

Staff

All full-time, exempt staff are eligible to apply.

Selected fellows will receive the following benefits:

  • A $2,500 compensation stipend

  • Engagement in collaboration and networking opportunities with campus leaders

  • Personal Statement (no longer than two pages) describing the applicant’s background, interest in first-generation college students, adult learners or parenting students, and how their background and experiences align and support the focus of the Fellowship (uploaded to Qualtrics application via link provided below).
  • Current vitae or resume (uploaded to Qualtrics application via link provided below).
  • Endorsement letter from their department chair/school director/unit head or department manager/director (uploaded to Qualtrics application via link provided below).

Submission Process & Deadline

The application period for the 2023 summer fellowship closed Friday, March 31st. Please check back for the next application cycle for our fall/spring fellowship.
