December 10, 2021: December Message

Dear Colleagues,

As we reach the end of the fall semester and the calendar year, I want to send you a message of thanks, congratulations, and well wishes. Commencement ceremonies will take place this weekend and next week, where we will confer approximately 2,100 degrees and celebrate our students’ success. Their academic journey would not have been possible without your efforts and important contributions. Your dedication to their success is the defining hallmark of a Georgia Southern University education, and I am continuously inspired by the energy, enthusiasm, and excellence you bring to our academic mission.

I also want to mention how much I appreciate your research, scholarship, and creative activities, and how proud I am of your accomplishments. You have authored papers and articles, made important discoveries, provided valuable services to our community, and won numerous grants and awards. Thanks to your efforts, Georgia Southern University is providing the kind of public impact research we aspire to share with our region, the nation, and the world. As a result, our work is being increasingly recognized by funding agencies and community partners, which means our impact—as an institution and as individuals—is growing.

Thank you for all that you do. I hope you will be able to take some much-deserved time off during the winter break to rest and recharge. Enjoy your time with family and loved ones, and celebrate all your blessings. Please stay safe and have a joyous holiday season.

Sincerely,

Carl
