Accessibility: Web Links
Web links are used for navigation and to send users to external resources. Semantic web links describe for all users the purpose and content of each link.
Semantic links also support screen readers by collecting all links in a single panel so that users may quickly find a resource. If the purpose of each link is not described well, users will not know how and when to use it.
- Inappropriate: Click here to read more. — Does not inform the user of the topic.
- Inappropriate: http://www.ada.gov/cguide.htm. — Gibberish. Does not inform the user of the topic and purpose.
- Appropriate: Review a Guide to Disability Rights. — All users understand topic and purpose regardless of context.
