Critical Race Theory-Interrupting Racism
BADGE: Evidence-Based Teaching
Critical Race Theory (CRT) originated within the field of legal studies and functions as a race-based framework for understanding power dynamics in the US. Increasingly, CRT is being used to conduct critical examinations of systemic racism in US education. As such, it provides a unique lens for evaluating diversity and inclusion efforts in higher education. During this one hour session, faculty will examine ways to transform current practices in curriculum, pedagogy, teaching and learning into ones that remove color blindness and meritocracy and that create a space where all students are empowered and learning is experiential and engaging.
