Public Speaking 101

Where: Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus, Savannah, GA
This five-week course will teach you how to write and deliver successful speeches. Each two-hour session meets just
one night a week and will cover the foundational principles speakers need to learn so that they can connect with their audience.
You’ll also learn the tricks of the trade, including:
- How to organize your speech so that your audience will remember it
- How to present your speech with authority and confidence
- How to strengthen your speech without even saying a word!

Nancy Carr teaches public speaking at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong campus. After her 31-year career as a country radio DJ concluded, she went back to school and earned her master’s degree in professional communication and leadership. She has been a part-time professor at Georgia Southern since 2017.
Carr’s public service in Savannah includes fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the United Way of the Coastal Empire. She was an integral part of teams that raised over $2 million for both organizations. She is also a registered mediator for the State of Georgia for civil, domestic and domestic violence cases, and regularly mediates cases for individuals and companies in southeast Georgia.
