English Communication Skills

Course Information

The English Communication Skills course is offered to those who wish to improve their everyday English skills or enhance their command of English for professional purposes. These non-credit classes focus on listening and speaking skills and are designed for those who do not wish to enroll in a full course of study. Reading and writing skills will not be taught in this course. Speakers of all ability levels are welcome.

Classes are small, with an average of 10 students per class. No textbook needed!

Learning Goals:

  • Students will improve their English listening and speaking skills.
  • Students will learn in a non-judgmental environment that encourages English practice.
  • Students will develop a better understanding of the United States, the Statesboro area, and their immediate communities while building connections with peers.

Instructor Information

Amy Perry has over 15 years of experience teaching ESOL both abroad and domestically.

Amy Perry has an Applied Linguistics/TESOL graduate certificate from Georgia Southern University in addition to her M.A. in International Relations from the International University of Japan, and a B.A. in Sociology and French from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Amy has been teaching ESL abroad and domestically for over 15 years. Prior to joining Georgia Southern, she established a local ESL program for new immigrants living in the Statesboro area.
