What Does a Provost Do?

Georgia Southern University’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the University, reporting to the University’s President. Working closely with the President and an extensive group of campus colleagues, the provost guides strategic planning and policy development, promotes campus-wide academic initiatives, and defines budgetary and development priorities.

The Provost oversees the following ten colleges along with the University Libraries:

Also within the Provost’s purview are First-Year Experience, the Faculty Center, Continuing Education, the Office of Research, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Office of Institutional Assessment and Accreditation.
