Pharmacy College Admission Test
(PCAT)

2008-2009 Registration Information

Cost: $125.00 fee (on-line registration) or $160.00 fee (mail registration)
Late registration, additional $49.00 fee

No Walk-ins

This test is used for admission into pharmacy college. The test is administered through the policies and procedures established by The Psychological Corporation. These policies and procedures can be found in the registration bulletin and on their website:  www.pcatweb.info.  Students may register on-line at the PCAT web site.  Students are encourage to take the practice test for the PCAT located on the web site.  Georgia Southern University is offering the PCAT four times.  Click here for the dates.

The test is given at Georgia Southern on the following dates:

Saturday, August 23, 2008 On-line Registration Deadlines: July 11
Saturday, October 18, 2008 On-line Registration Deadlines: September 5
Saturday, January 24, 2009 On-line Registration Deadlines: December 12
   
   

 

 

Test Format:
The PCAT consists of 280-mulitple choice questions. The test is 4 1/2 hours long.  There are six sections:

Verbal (58 items, 35 minutes)
  • Analogies (60% of the questions)
  • Sentence Completion (40% of the questions)
Biology  (58 items, 35 minutes)
  • General Biology (60% of the questions)
  • Microbiology (20% of the questions)
  • Anatomy & Physiology (20% of the questions)
Reading Comprehension (6 passages, 48 items, 50 minutes)
  • Comprehension (30% of the questions)

  • Analysis (40% of the questions)

  • Evaluation (30% of the questions)

Quantitative Ability (58 items, 50 minutes)
  • Geometry (20% of the questions)

  • Algebra (20% of the questions)

  • Probability & Statistics (10% of the questions)

  • Pre-calculus (20% of the questions)
    Calculus (30% of the questions)

Chemistry (58 items, 35 minutes)
  • General Chemistry (65% of the questions)

  • Organic Chemistry (35% of the questions)

Writing (1 writing topic, 30 minutes)
  • Conventions of Language (100%)

 

Picture Identification Required for All Tests
Please make sure you bring an acceptable ID

Acceptable IDs are: a valid state driver's license, student ID or passport.
(Not accepted: check cashing cards, picture credit cards, Sam's cards, etc.)
