General Information about CLEP
The College-Level Examination Program® or
CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate
college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college
courses. There are 2,900 colleges that grant credit and/or advanced standing
for CLEP exams. CLEP is a computer-based testing (CBT)
program.
Georgia Southern University does not grant
credit for all CLEP exams offered. The Georgia Southern University Registrar’s Office establishes eligibility
in conjunction with the academic department. The Registrar's Office is
responsible for awarding credit under their policies. To view which CLEP exams are accepted by

Policies are different for each institutions, candidates should verify which
exams are accepted at their institutions and policies regarding the number of
hours allowed to transfer.
Georgia Southern University will grant up to 30 semester hours of general education credit to those students who obtain the minimum
CLEP scores defined by university policy (see
http://admissions.georgiasouthern.edu/creditbyexam.htm).
Credit will not be awarded if the student has previously registered for a
similar course or a more advanced course in the same field, or if six months
have not elapsed since last taking the exam. Georgia Southern students
are encouraged to speak with a representative from the Registrar's
Office prior to taking an exam if you are a transfer student or had previous
enrolled in class but dropped the class prior to receiving grade to ensure
Georgia Southern will accept the exam. It is the students'
responsibility to contact the Registrar's Office. The Registrar's
Office is located on the 3rd floor of the Rosenwald building and the phone
number is 912.478.5152.
Scores are reported to the designated institutions within 2 - 3 weeks of
testing. Candidates must wait a minimum of six months to retake a CLEP
exam.
STEP 1: Select the CLEP Exam(s) you would like to take. Make sure the tests are eligible for credit at the institution you are attending or will attend. Georgia Southern University does not grant credit to students who had previous attempted the course and withdrew or completed, or a similar course at the same level or a more advance course. STEP 2: Obtain a copy of the CLEP Registration Form from the link that follows or from the Office of Testing Services. Complete the form.

STEP 3: Return the
completed registration form to the Office of Testing Services to Cone Hall
Room 2031, and include payment of $20 per exam (nonrefundable
registration fee). Only checks, money orders, and cashiers checks are accepted.
Checks should be made payable to Georgia Southern University. An exam
reservation will not be made for you till the registration fee is received by
the Office of Testing Services at least one week prior to the date you would
like to take the exam.
STEP 4:
Prepare for the exam.
STEP 5: You will receive a confirmation e-mail of your registration date, time, and location. Reservations will be based on the preferences indicated on your registration form.
STEP 6: Show up, on time. Bring a payment of $70 per exam (examination fee). You must pay for the exam on the exam day with a valid credit card or check or money order payable to College-Level Examination Program. DO NOT combine fees for multiple tests. A separate payment must be made for each exam.

CLEP exams will be administered at the Office of Testing Services in Cone Hall Room 2031. Exams are offered Monday through Friday Only between 9:00 am - 10:30 am, or between 1:30 - 3:30 pm based on computer availability. It is recommended you arrange your testing date and time early. All non-Georgia Southern University students, will need to get a visitor parking pass at Welcome Center located in Lewis Hall.
