Proposal Review and Approval All proposals must be routed for academic (chair and dean) and administrative approvals before submission to an external sponsor. If an application, proposal, contract or other solicitation is not processed through the ORSSP and is subsequently funded, there is a risk of the award not being accepted and/or a delay in accessing project funds. The Proposal Development section describes the 5 steps towards preparing a proposal for submission. The ORSSP's proposal routing form must be completed, and institutional approvals obtained, for all proposals and other activities involving sponsored activity. The internal approval form serves as a checklist for much of the information necessary for processing proposals, as well as compliance certifications required for proposal submission. Routing a proposal for Institutional approvals does not need to be delayed until the principal investigator has edited the proposal for typographical or grammatical errors. However, it is expected that the proposal will have approvals from the unit chair (department chair or institute/center director) before submission to the ORSSP, and that there will be no substantive changes to the statement of work or the project's budget once it is received. |
