Become a Student Writing Fellow

Student Writing Fellows commit to:

  • participating in three full-day compensated training workshops at the beginning of the term;
  • providing service as determined by their program’s faculty members;
  • attending monthly professional development and mentoring sessions with the QEP Director, lead Fellow, and/or University Writing Center director;
  • meeting two times each semester, by college, with College Writing Leaders and the QEP Director, as well as with the lead Writing Fellow, to discuss issues and needs as they arise; and
  • receiving $10 per hour for service provided to their program (not to exceed 150 hours per term – based on the program’s needs)

To apply for a Student Writing Fellow position, interested students must:

  • secure two letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with their work;
  • prepare a letter of interest, addressed to the QEP Director, that includes:
    • what they believe constitute a fellow’s key duties;
    • characteristics they believe are important for a successful fellow to possess;
  • provide one additional writing sample of writing specific to their fields of study;
  • provide your course schedule

Application requirements:

  1. complete the online form and attach your required materials (letter of interest, writing sample, course schedule)
  2. in addition, have faculty submit your two letters of recommendation here (or email to qep@georgiasouthern.edu and reference “Student Writing Fellows Recommendation” in the subject line)
  3. complete the official University job posting
