Program Development

Resources for Developing a Program Abroad

The Office of International Programs & Services welcomes faculty to develop and lead study abroad programming that enhance the academic endeavors of Georgia Southern, and the capacity for experiential learning for our students.  Faculty holding full-time, permanent positions are able to develop, lead, and teach on study abroad programs sponsored by the University.

Programs proposals are now being accepted for the 2017-2018 academic year, for both new and existing programs.  All proposals are due in full by August 15, 2017.  Not only does this provide maximum recruitment time, but will enable IPS to ensure all budgets, contracts, accounts, online stores, brochures, and webpages are ready prior to the annual study abroad fair and advertising to students begins.

The Office of International Programs & Services is here to guide faculty members through the program development process and provide advice and information regarding best practices.  Before beginning the program approval process, faculty are encouraged to read through the Program Development Manual, which outlines specific requirements and clarifies the information requested in the program approval documents.

It is also requested that faculty notify the IPS of their intentions to lead a program, as certain location choices may require further discussion, and the office does its best to prevent multiple submissions from single departments for the purpose of preventing faculty from having to compete for a certain pool of students.
