International Extended Families Program (IEF)

Georgia Southern University has many international students who are away from their families. This separation can be difficult for many students. The International Extended Families Program (IEF) gives them the chance to experience family life during their stay in Statesboro. By becoming involved in the program, families can invite international students into their lives and together enjoy a learning and fun experience.

What will you gain from IEF?

• Greater awareness of one’s ideas and values
• Wonderful friendships

What can you do together?

• Invite the student to dinner
• Watch a movie
• Visit Savannah
• Go to the beach
• Cook ethnic foods

How much time does it take?

You and the student decide. Most families meet at least a couple of times each month.

The sky is the limit! Just have fun and treat this student like a member of the family.
