Likewise, a university needs strong academically talented students and programs to attract talented faculty. The presence of high caliber graduate students and graduate faculty provide opportunities for collaboration in interactive, participatory research – another traditional benchmark of high quality graduate programs. Collectively, students and faculty develop the corpus that propels the institution to national prominence.
Outstanding faculty and students are not all that is needed to achieve our strategic vision. We need the support of our many committed friends. Specifically, we need funding for international study abroad programs, scholarships, new degree/program development activities, professional development activities for both faculty and students, travel funds for graduate students to attend and present their research at professional meetings, and new initiatives that advance education and research at Georgia Southern University.
