Statesboro is located in southern Georgia about 52 miles (82km) west of Savannah. The closest airport to Statesboro is the Savannah/ Hilton Head International Airport. Please note, no buses or passenger trains come to Statesboro. Taxi fare from Savannah to Statesboro will cost at least $75.
Georgia Southern's Center for International Studies provides limited FREE shuttle service from the Savannah airport to campus. While the service is free, reservations must be made, so we can arrange adequate transportation, so please contact Ms. Tanika Lakes at tllakes@georgiasouthern.edu or (912) 478-1379. Only two free shuttle trips will be available on the following date and time:
Sunday, August 17 @ 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. (17:00 hours)
Otherwise, you will be required to make your own arrangements for transportation. Taxi service can be arranged at the airport across from the baggage claim area.
You can arrive in Statesboro from several airports. Atlanta is 3.5 hours away, Jacksonville, Florida is about 2.5 hours away, but the closest airport is Savannah International Airport, about 45 minutes away from the university.
Air transportation is available to the Savannah International Airport, and limousine service is available from the airport directly to Statesboro and Georgia Southern University. We will make a reservation for the limousine service if you let us know.

Most students ride the GSU shuttle buses to class or have a car or bicycle to get around campus or town. Since the campus is not very large, you can easily walk to your classes if you choose to live in one of the residence halls.
