Georgia Southern University has a Health Center on campus with health care professionals who can give you medical treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. During the semester, the center is open Monday-Friday (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). When you pay the university fee at registration (a requirement for all ELP students), you will be eligible for free unlimited office visits with health care professionals at the center. However, you will need to pay for medications and medical tests.
If you have a serious health problem or you need to see a doctor during a time when the Health Center is closed, you will need to visit a doctor off-campus or go to the hospital. Since your university fee will not pay for health services received off-campus, all international students at Georgia Southern are required to buy the university's approved health insurance plan from HTH Worldwide Insurance Services. You can get additional information about this plan, designed especially for international students, at the International Student Programs & Services on campus.
Some additional services the center provides for students include: specialized health services for men and women, sports medicine, health education, allergy injections, immunizations, and a pharmacy. There is also a Counseling Center on campus with professional counselors to help students with mental health concerns.
