Georgia Southern Mock Mediation Impresses at International Intercollegiate Mock Mediation Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa
The Georgia Southern Mock Mediation team demonstrated great excellence on behalf of Georgia Southern Univeristy at the International Intercollegiate Mock Mediation Tournament 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Mock Mediation was rewarded the opportunity to compete at the 2013 Tournament after a successful participation at the regional tournament which resulted in sponsorship and the support required for the 2013 tournament. The Georgia Southern team did well to impress organizers and long time competitors at the International Intercollegiate Mock Mediation Tournament.
The team performed extremely well in the first 3 rounds of the tournament to emerge as the #1 team overall out of 42 teams for the advocate/client category and as a result taking a strong position going in, as the leader of the top 16 teams in the tournament that broke into the semi finals.
Even tough the team did not break into the finals they did mange grab the rank of #8 out of the 42 teams present at the International Intercollegiate tournament and was the top performing new team of the tournament, as 1st time team.
Georgia Southern Universities mock mediation team was also awarded the “Case Ellis Spirit of Mediation Peacemaker’s Award” which is awarded to the advocate/client team that acts in the interest of finding peaceful and creative resolution to conflicts in the true spirit of mediation. This award is decided by form of vote by the participating teams.
