I am a professor researcher and head of the Division: Higher Education Studies and Research at the University of the Free State (UFS). I hold a B.Sc. (Mathematics and Physics) and several educational qualifications. In addition to numerous scholarly contributions, more than 50 postgraduate students completed their studies under my supervision. I believe that I have contributed comprehensively to teaching-learning innovation and the development of research capacity among lecturing staff in the central part of South Africa. From 2011 I will lead the Division: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in a restructured academic development centre at the UFS. My research interests mainly relate to the advancement of SoTL in higher education, in particular innovative teaching and learning practices and pedagogical action research.
