I am a teaching-focussed Senior Lecturer in the School of Dentistry and Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Oral Health program at the University of Queensland. I am also a practising dentist with a passion for prevention of oral diseases, an area in which I completed my Ph.D. in 2003. My other qualifications are BDSc(Hons), GCClinDent, GCEd(HE) and MScMed. Currently, I am exploring the evolving professional (EP) concept as a framework for supporting, influencing, motivating and inspiring students to become oral health professionals of excellence. In November 2009, this work was awarded a UQ Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. In addition to the EP concept, I am also interested in collaborative learning, reflective learning and community-integrated learning.
