I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Georgia
Southern University; my background and training are in molecular microbiology.
I received a Ph.D. in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin
– Madison, and completed post-doctoral training in bacterial pathogenesis
at the same institution. My SoTL research focuses on productive infusion
of molecular biology content and skills into the curriculum. Efforts
began in advanced undergraduate courses and are currently being pursued
at the introductory undergraduate level and in high schools. Learning
outcomes for all projects have been/are being rigorously evaluated using
mixed-method assessments. I was awarded university and college Awards
for Excellence in Contribution to Instruction in recognition of my efforts
at Georgia Southern University.
