I have been teaching at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University since completing my Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in the Combined Program in Education and Psychology. My primary interest over the past 20 years has been to develop and test a model for undergraduate education that is grounded in the educational philosophy of John Dewey and informed by current theory and research in learning science. I have served as the Director of the Human and Organizational Development (HOD) Program since its founding in 1982. I received several teaching awards during my career including the Peabody Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching and Service, the Ingall's Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching, and Vanderbilt University 's Chancellor's Cup.
