Preparing students for the demands of 21st century jobs places greater emphasis on creative thinking, problem solving, communication and analytical skills that are equally important to academic and technical skills. Visual arts faculty members researched the effective enhancement and improvement of creativity in student learning outcomes through an interdisciplinary approach. This cross-disciplinary approach contributed to the development of a creativity framework. The panelists will briefly describe the philosophical and psychological aspects of the framework developed and the eighteen-benchmark statements concerning creativity examined in student learning outcomes. This examination will give participants the opportunity to try their hands at several creative tasks while learning about skills that increase the flow of creativity in daily life. Real world examples from the presenters' experiences in higher education will form the bases for an interactive discussion about ways to assess creativity in the classroom or work place.
