Student Products Provide Evidence for SoTL Projects
[pr-2]
Cynthia Deale (East Carolina University): ohalloranc@ecu.edu

Participate in this session to become more skilled at conceptualizing, planning, developing, and using student generated data—“student products”---as evidence in SoTL projects. Student generated data may include, but are not limited to: test scores and answers, completed assignments, reflections, journal entries, essays, blogs, projects, models, diagrams, one-minute papers, interview and discussion transcripts, portfolios, student presentations, web-designs, photos, films, and artwork. Brainstorm ideas for developing SoTL projects using student products, identify student products that might be used in SoTL projects effectively, frame questions to ask to guide SoTL projects using student products, and design strategies to use to explore the meaning of student products as evidence in SoTL work. Benefits of this session include an increased understanding of the use of student products in SoTL work and shared examples of how these products can inform teaching, enhance scholarship activities, and, most importantly, improve student learning.
