Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Overview
Offers grants for undergraduate students of limited financial means to
pursue academic studies abroad
Fields of Study
Available for all fields of study
Length of Study
Student must be participating in a study abroad program for a minimum
of four weeks and a maximum of one academic year
Award
Up to $5000 for tuition, room and board, books, local transportation, insurance and international airfare
Eligibility
Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens
Must be applying to a study abroad program eligible for undergraduate academic credit
Must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant
Campus Deadline
September 11, 2009 for Spring 2010 semester abroad
March 5, 2010 for Fall 2010 semester abroad or 2010/2011 academic year abroad

Boren Scholarship
Overview
Boren Scholarships provide funding to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East
Boren Scholars study less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili
Fields of Study
Fields which contribute to U.S. national security, including not only the traditional concerns of protecting and promoting American well-being, but also the challenges of global society, including sustainable development, environmental degradation, global disease and hunger, population growth and migration, and economic competitiveness
Length of Study
Minimum of one semester and maximum of one academic year
Award
Maximum scholarship awards are:
$10,000 for a semester
$20,000 for a full academic year
Eligibility
Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and applying for a study abroad experience in a country outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand
Boren Scholars must agree to work in the Federal Government in a position with national security responsibilities within three years of graduation

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
Overview
Provides funding to alleviate shortage of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians and engineers
Fields of Study
Mathematics, natural sciences and engineering
Length of Study
Junior level scholarships for two years
Senior level scholarships for one year
Award
Up to $7,500 for tuition, fees, books, books, room and board
Eligibility
Full-time sophomore or junior
GPA of 3.0 and in upper fourth of the class

Harry S. Truman Scholarship
Overview
Available to individuals committed to careers in government, nonprofits, education or elsewhere in public service
Fields of Study
Master's, doctorate or professional degrees in public service fields

Up to $30,000 for tuition, career counseling, internship placement, professional development
Eligibility
Junior level academic standing
Demonstrated record of campus and community service, commitment to career in public service, and a strong academic record

Morris K. Udall Scholarship
Overview
Provides scholarships for future leaders in environmental fields
Fields of Study
Environmental fields including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning, business, justice and economics
Length of Study
One academic year

$5,000 scholarships and $350 awards
Eligibility
Sophomore or junior standing
Committed to career related in environment or career in tribal public policy or Native American health care
3.0 GPA
