First-Year Experience

First year experience is the academic home for all undeclared students at Georgia Southern. For more information about the many majors offered here at Georgia Southern, visit our Degree Program website.  We encourage all undeclared students to be actively involved in major exploration from the time of acceptance through their first year at Georgia Southern. Transfer students with more than 45 semester credit hours will be asked to declare a major during their first semester.

After being accepted, you are encouraged to sign up for the next available SOAR session on the Admissions home page. Georgia Southern is offering new transfer students a special opportunity to be pre-advised before attending SOAR. This gives us a chance to get to know you, advise you on your degree requirements, and help prepare you for the registration process in a more relaxed atmosphere.  In some cases, we can even pre-register you for courses critical to your degree progression.
