Advice for Transfer Students
Major Exploration for Transfer Students
First-year experience is the academic home for all undeclared students at Georgia Southern. We encourage all undeclared students to be actively involved in major exploration from the time of acceptance through their first year at Georgia Southern. The same set of expectations for major exploration for first-time freshman are also asked of transfer students. Transfer students with 45 or more credit hours will be asked to declare a major prior to SOAR or during their first semester depending on completed core coursework. For more information about the many majors offered at Georgia Southern, visit the Majors Page located on the FYE website.
After being accepted, the next step is to sign up for a transfer SOAR session on the Admissions homepage. Georgia Southern is offering new transfer students a special opportunity to be pre-advised before attending SOAR. This gives us a change to get to know you, advise you on your degree requirements, and help prepare you for the registration process in a more relaxed atmosphere. In some cases, we can even pre-register you for courses critical to your degree progression. Once you have signed up for SOAR, please check the email you provided in your application and we will be in touch about advisement. Please look use TALON to look at how your courses can transfer into Georgia Southern.
We are looking forward to working with you!
