First-Year Experience

Pre-Advisement

Students with 30 or more hours of credit meet with a Peer Academic Advisor for a pre-advisement session prior to being advised for their next semester's classes. This meeting allows students to discuss methods and ideas for major exploration to be completed in advance of their advisement appointment. By taking active steps to select a major, students with 30 or more hours greatly improve their chances of making timely progress toward graduation. By moving into their intended degree program, students can receive more specific guidance from their faculty advisor or their college's advisement center. In order to accomplish this, the Peer Academic Advisor and the undeclared student complete a major exploration contract to assist in determining which tools would best suit the student's needs as he or she moves toward the selection of a specific program of study.

Fall 2008 Major Exploration begins Thursday, September 4, 2008.
