FYE-Created Global Citizens Folio Content

First-Year Experience has created twenty modules designed to assist in the teaching and learning of the common learning outcomes for FYE 1410.  With one exception (Global Engagement at Georgia Southern; see below), the modules remain largely unchanged since Spring 2017.

Unless faculty make changes, students will only see three modules initially: 1) What is a Global Citizen? 2) Characteristics of Culture and 3) Global Engagement at Georgia Southern. If faculty would like to use some of the other modules, they will need to be made visible.

Faculty are generally not required to use modules, and all may be modified to add or remove content. The one exception is the Global Engagement at Georgia Southern module. The module and associated rubric, significantly revised for Fall 2017, aligns closely with the third SLO and includes a key assessment, not just for FYE 1410, but also for Area B of the core curriculum.  We need a systematic way to collect data for program assessment.  Accordingly, we’re asking faculty in all sections to assign the module and either:

  1. Assign one or more of the associated assessments (there are two dropboxes and a quiz). The dropboxes and rubric for this module are detailed and like the module, closely align with SLO #3. Or,
  2. Forward to FYE (Alicia Spence, ahowe@georgiasouthern.edu) the assignment you use to address the third SLO by the third week of classes (August 28 for Fall 2017).

If #2, we may be in touch to discuss plans for collecting student work products for program assessment.

The charts below display the web-based content links for each module for easy review. Each ‘X’ indicates a hyperlink to an item for that module with a public URL.  The associated assessments for each module (even the visible ones) are all hidden initially. For an explanation of how to use them in your course, see see the Folio Overview and Customization Videos.
