Summary of Videoconferencing Technology

The following is a basic list and desciption of the kinds of videoconferencing technology that we utilize here at Georgia Southern.

IP Videoconferencing

IP (Internet Protocol) videoconferencing uses the Internet to transmit audio and video between two or more sites. This technology allows us to connect to sites around the world very easily, and in its most basic form, it can be done using a webcam and a computer. Read more

Satellite downlink

Satellite downlink is our only non-interactive videoconferencing technology. Satellite is a one-way feed in which participants view the transmission but have no live interaction. Because the satellite broadcast can be transmitted through the distance learning classroom, you can however, use videoconferencing to transmit the feed to other sites. Read more
