Biography: Dr. Belkis Torres-Capeles joined Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education team in August of 2014. As the Executive Director of the Division of Continuing Education, Nessmith-Lane Center and in Savannah, Dr. Torres-Capeles oversees the division’s efforts in offering non-credit continuing education programs to improve the skills of the workforce, enhance societal and cultural understanding, facilitate healthy lifestyles, and address personal development and enrichment needs. She also oversees the operations and brand development of the Nessmith-Lane Center on Georgia Southern’s campus as well as the Savannah, Georgia location. In addition, she oversees the English Language Program (ELP), a non-credit bearing program offering an active, student-centered approach to learning for international students wishing to enter into degree programs at Georgia Southern University.

Biography: Amy Perry has lived throughout the South, and abroad in Japan and France. She received her BA in Sociology and French from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, her MA in International Relations from the International University of Japan, and her TESOL/Applied Linguistics Graduate Certificate from GS. Teaching international students was sparked while she was a student volunteer at UNCC. This later lead to studying in France, and working in Japan as an International Relations Coordinator. Upon her return to the United States, she became a mother to twin sons and devoted her time as a stay at home mother. Prior to coming to Georgia Southern, she established a local ESL program for new immigrants living in the Statesboro area. Amy has been teaching ESL for 15 years and says teaching is a very rewarding job because she learns from her students every day. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and doing creative activities with her family.

Biography: Michel Blitch joined Georgia Southern’s Division of Continuing Education in February 2018. As a Program Assistant, she provides support to Program Specialists. In addition, she develops, coordinates, markets, and evaluates non-credit programs. Prior to joining Georgia Southern, Michel worked in early childhood education, serving as an elementary teacher and ESOL instructor. Michel joined ELP in March 2018 as an administrative coordinator. She oversees student inquiries, applications, and visa paperwork.

Biography: Matthew Reynolds joined Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education in the Fall of 2005. As the Event Coordinator, Matthew oversees reservations and events within the Nessmith-Lane Center facility. He also partners with all CE staff for facility and event needs as well as offers support in areas where needed. Matthew began teaching ELP in the Fall of 2016 and has enjoyed engaging with students new to the program and to Georgia Southern. Prior to joining the Division of Continuing Education, Matthew served as a Student Assistant for the Performing Arts Center. Matthew is originally from Oswego, NY but has been living in Statesboro for 18 years.
