English Language Program

Georgia Southern University

Welcome to ELP at Georgia Southern

English Communication Skills Courses Available at CE

Coming Spring 2018

The English Language Program at Georgia Southern University offers an active, student-centered approach to learning. Our academically intensive program supports the idea that whole language practice in all four skill areas (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) should be active rather than passive.

Students of the ELP at Georgia Southern will experience life as a traditional student through engaging academic curriculum and activities. All instructors use the latest technologies in their classrooms for innovative learning experiences.

Our goal is not only to facilitate language learning but also to encourage critical and reflective thinking. In an effort to accomplish this, we piloted the ESL Lunch and Learn series, an immersive experience for community members and students to enjoy a fun, interactive session taught by an ESL expert with over 15 years of knowledge and training. Our English Communication Skills offers the same environment in a six-week course that offers students the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with people of other cultures as well as allowing newcomers to connect with the community.

Mission:
To enrich the lives of English learners through a professionally-supported English language program, assisting them in achieving their goals as they become confident, competent and successful in becoming fluent speakers of the English language.

Vision: To continue to educate and provide services for a diverse population: racially, culturally, ethnically, and academically, within an expanding university setting.
