SoTL
@ Georgia Southern
A university initiative for SoTL
What
is SoTL?
Congratulations to Diana Sturges & Janie Wilson, the 2011-2012 SoTL Awards recipients.
In the
Spotlight
Congratulations to Sabrina Ross (Curriculum, Foundations & Reading) and June Joyner (Writing & Linguistics) for being selected for the Summer Symposium of the Governor's Teaching Fellows Program at UGA ( http://ihe.uga.edu/programs/ governors-teaching-fellows ).
To improve the quality of instruction in Georgia's colleges and universities, the Governor's Teaching Fellows Program assumes the complex challenge of moving college faculty members to the leading edge of instructional practice. This effort to enhance instruction in public and private higher education statewide is very much in keeping with the University of Georgia's traditional mission as a land-grant institution committed to diversified outreach and public service.
The new 2012-2013 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Fellows Program, sponsored by the Center for Teaching, Learning & Scholarship (CTLS) is designed to foster faculty leadership in SoTL by promoting evidence-based teaching.
The Fellows Program will support up to four faculty and their SoTL research projects related to faculty members' efforts to improve and better understand teaching and learning through evidence-based study.
All applicants must be current, full-time, permanent or temporary faculty members at the time of award, and may submit only one application per primary investigator. In other words, for collaborative SoTL projects, only the lead investigator can apply to become a CTLS SoTL Fellow.
Each SoTL Fellows' Award is $3,000. For more information, download the guidelines.
