Teaching and Learning Essentials Seminar

This seminar focuses on providing a foundational understanding of strategies and approaches that support student learning at the college level. You will have the opportunity to discuss teaching related questions with colleagues from CT2 and a variety of disciplines on campus. You are an expert in your content area, learn how to be an expert teacher too!

In this intensive two-day seminar we will discuss research-based principles of effective teaching, including

  • Planning for learning
    • Defining and using learning outcomes as guides for effective teaching
    • Defining and communicating expectations
  • Classroom management: Setting expectations for success
  • Assignments: Assessing student progress and achievements
  • Student engagement
  • Getting ready for the first day of teaching.

Teaching and Learning Essentials Seminar for GRADUATE STUDENTS

Completion of the seminar is required for all Teaching Assistants, Level 2 (TA2) PRIOR to starting their teaching assignment.
