Instructor's Guide to Teaching

The below guide will give you important information pertaining to tasks and items when teacing in GeorgiaVIEW. Please review the appropriate category and read the items entirely.

Course/Enrollment Timeline

The following timeline illustrates the timeline leading up to the beginning of each semester.

If you or your students have any problems with courses or enrollment, please contact Support.

Other Important Information

- For students who have dropped your course (no longer appear on the WINGS roster), you can use the "Unenroll" feature of GeorgiaVIEW [View Tutorial]. Once unenrolled, a student's grades ARE recoverable.

- Your courses (and their information) will be available indefinitely to you as the instructor. This means that you will be able to access grades, discussions, messages, etc. past the end of the term.

- Many departments require that you download a "soft" copy of the course Grade Book for archiving. To do so, use the "Export to Spreadsheet" command inside of each section's Grade Book [View tutorial].

- Upcoming semester courses can now make use of a special "copy" function for courses. This means that you can automatically copy course information from one semester to the next. Visit our Preparing Course Content page on how to use this. Once you have copied the content learn to use the Date Rollover Tool [View tutorial] to quickly change due dates.

- Copyright considerations and Fair Use with online course content and GeorgiaVIEW. Visit this page for more information and important links.

Fully Online Course Information

- Attendance Verification for fully online courses can now be done via the "Tracking" tool [View Tutorial]. (Note: Reports are compiled each night at 3am, thus, the data is current up to the day before today)

- Online courses only. "Student Ratings of Instruction" evaluations will be loaded into online courses automatically. You will then receive an email from us on further instructions. Results will be collected automatically also. [Read More]

- Perhaps the most important element of teaching a course with online components is the expectations and standards you set for communication to and from your students. The Online Course Design portion of our website provides guidance on this and many more design concepts.
