SMART Post-Migration Checklist
Once your section(s) have been migrated, there are several steps you MUST take in order to verify the effectiveness of the tool, and to prepare the section for teaching.
Copy Content to Spring 2009 Course
- Login to the Spring 2009 course you want to copy content to.
- Upon first login, you will have four options. Choose the second option - "Copy content from another course" - and click Continue. (NOTE: If you had previously entered the course and assigned blank content, you must submit a SMART Support request to have it reset.)
- You will then be presented with a list of your courses, including the requested migrated Vista section from a previous semester. Select it and click Continue.
- The copy will proceed and when finished, you will be taken into the section. You will now need to follow the below guide on getting your course ready to teach.
Clean-up / Tutorials
The first step to preparing your course is to check the major features of the course, and clean-up any changes that might have occurred as a result of the migration.
- The migrated course section (from an old semester) will now appear on your Course List - you can hide it or submit a SMART Support request to have it removed.
- Do all icons, links, and text appear as expected? If not, you must make necessary changes manually.
- In some rare cases, Assignment instructions or Discussion descriptions may not migrate, check and fix manually.
- In some rare cases, Group Sign-up sheets do not function after migration. Check and re-create manually.

| Examine files and folders in File Manager | Are the unused and/or old files and folders that you'd like to clean up? This tutorial will help you out. | Flash |
| Modify Learning Module Properties | A new setting in GeorgiaVIEW is defaulted to a non-recommended setting that displays the TOC instead of the first content item in all Learning Modules. Follow the tutorial to learn how to fix it. | Flash |
Prepare for Teaching
- Upload/link new Syllabus file
- Compose a detailed schedule of due dates and other important information for the course.
- Examine course "flow" and organization. Are units of instruction organized into Learning Modules? (View Learning Modules guide)
- Take a look at some of the new tools available and consider implementing them: Grading Forms, Goals, Peer Review (within Discussions)
