The Center for Online Learning assists faculty with the development and delivery of online course content. Faculty receive technological and pedagogical training, consultation, and ongoing support.

Professional Development Opportunities

Teaching Online Track

The Teaching Online Track prepares faculty to teach & develop online courses.

Quality Matters Track

The Quality Matters Track prepares faculty to review online courses

Teaching Online Certificate

Prerequisite: None

Participants take a six-week online class on online course design and delivery.

Certificate: Participants who complete all work in the course at a satisfactory level receive a Teaching Online Certificate from the COL.

  • Stipend: No
  • Timeline: 6 weeks (offered once per semester)

Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)

Prerequisite: None

APPQMR prepares participants to review online courses as part of a peer review team. APPQMR is also one of two courses needed to become a certified Peer Reviewer for Quality Matters.

Certificate: Participants who complete APPQMR receive a certificate from Quality Matters.

  • Stipend: $200
  • Timeline: 1 day (7.5 hours)

Course Development Program

Prerequisite: Teaching Online Certificate

Each semester the COL accepts proposals from qualified faculty to design an online course under the guidance of the COL. Participants will also choose and complete four technical workshops.

  • Stipend: Up to $2000
  • Timeline: 1 semester

Spring 2016 cohort is closed.

QM Course Review Program

Prerequisite: None

Each semester the COL accepts proposals from departments to nominate an online course for review. The Course Review Program requires the participation of four department faculty.

  • Stipend: Varies
  • Timeline: 1 semester

What Else Can We Do For You?
