About the COL

The Center for Online Learning assists selected faculty with the development and delivery of quality online courses that support online degree programs at Georgia Southern University. The faculty receive technological and pedagogical training, consultation, and ongoing support.

Courses developed through the COL use the Folio Foundations Template. The template supports the Quality Matters Rubric, encourages sound online pedagogy, and provides faculty with the flexibility to accommodate their teaching strategies.

Quality Matters

Quality Matters ProgramQuality Matters (QM) is a leader in quality assurance for online education and has received national recognition for its peer-based approach to continuous improvement in online education and student learning.

The QM Program features:

  • Rubrics for applying quality standards to course design
  • Faculty-centered, continuous improvement models for assuring the quality of online courses through a peer review process
  • Professional development workshops and certification courses for instructors and online learning professionals.

Developing and Teaching Online Courses

Developing an online course? Faculty developing new online courses are required to participate in our course development program. Learn more
Teaching an online course? Faculty adopting existing online courses may take our 5-week course, and become certified to teach online. Learn more
