Georgia Southern Virtual Tour

The Center for Excellence in Teaching has recently created a “Virtual Tour” of the Georgia Southern campus for our recently concluded New Faculty Orientation. In past years during orientation, we’ve attempted real bus tours that were frequently problematic due to weather and logistical issues. This CD/Web “learning object” provides basic information about People, Places, and Things (Resources, Services, and Diversions) available to the faculty, staff and students of Georgia Southern. Information is accessed by browsing a large campus map. A portion (about 20%) of the map is displayed in the screenshot below. The user may view other areas of the map by clicking directional arrows (left/right/up/down) on the navigation palette.

"HOT-SPOTS" on the map change according to the mode selected via the pulldown menus on the navigation palette. Many short videoclips are available about interesting aspects of the campus. The videoclips are Quicktime streaming movie files and require the Quicktime player and a high-speed Internet connection.

This product is NOT by any means a complete inventory of what Georgia Southern offers… but it’s a start. We will continue to add content and features as faculty, staff, and students, identify useful additions.
